April - May, 2025

In connection with the 2025 WUmester theme, Being Human, this exhibition from the Mulvane collection invites you to contemplate the parameters of humanity. Works that span materials and subjects raise a variety of questions about the human condition: What is central to the experience of being a human? Is it our flesh and bones, our creativity, our capacity for empathy, our violent drives, our relationships, our mortality, or something else altogether?

William Castellana, "Dempsey Painting the Mona Lisa," 2019, archival pigment print. Permanent collection of the Mulvane Art Museum, Washburn University.
