This exhibition features twenty-two paintings from the private collection of Kansas City collector Fred Whitehead. Michael Young and Ian Young, father and son, each created paintings based on famous literary works 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, respectively. Both series were created at the request of the collector, who first met the Youngs in 2010.

Michael Young was born in 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas andworks for national publisher and gallery chain, Dyansen, producing illustrative lithographs and serigraphs. In 100 Years of Solitude, Michael Young depicts ten scenes from the 1967 novel, detailing the adventures of the Buendia family, the founders of the imaginary and isolated Colombian town of Macondo.

Ian Young was born in 1982 and does large scale, highly detailed paintings of various subject matter, typically in themed "series" of six or more. His Brave New World features a twelve paintings inspired by the 1932 text and the 1980 film adaptation of the famous dystopian tale that examine the twelve most important themes.
